I had been a rehab therapist for 4 years prior to having my c-section, so I knew that after abdominal surgeries, therapy was usually consulted on for functional movement assessments for safe return home. I was pissed to find out that there was no referral made. I barely had the energy to go up 18 steps to my second floor apartment. It literally took me 5 minutes and 2 rest breaks. I was exhausted. And that was only the beginning. Between a rough physical recovery, postpartum anxiety, and all the first time mami fears, I realized how little women are supported in this stage. If I can help you getting to feel heard, seen, supported, and empowered, then my job is done.
